16 weeks and counting to London
As the New Year begins and the cold freeze continues in the UK those hardy souls heading out on the London Marathon training runs are digging through the draws for those spare hats and gloves received over the festive period. Thankfully following visits to Running Bath and the Sweatshop sale I’m now fully kitted to push on through the bitter weather we’re currently experiencing.
Now I’ve also downloaded my 16 week training plan from my coach Mike Gratton, the 1983 winner, I feel as though everything is achievable. I’d definitely be lost without my Forerunner though and I can’t imagine heading out on a run without it.
Following the 10-15 mile weeks over the festive period, this week sees the first 20-25 mile week being targeted and the alerts and alarms on my 405 are giving a real boost to my preparations as I head out each night. The other great tool is my playlist on my mp3 player. Editors and Kings of Leon have definitely been the pace setters recently and have helped push me that bit further. I’m also happy to see the sponsorship money coming in so a huge thanks to those who have already added their support, a long way to go here as well before the streets of London beckon.
