Garmin’s Not-So-Average-Joe’s complete their final challenge!
Yesterday saw the finale to Garmin's Not-So-Average challenge. Our two lucky 'Joes', Dawn Seymour and Doug Cannon have spent the last 6 weeks training with fitness guru, Steve Halsall, using their new Forerunner 405Cx's in preparation for the Cancer Research UK's Run10k at Dorney Lake.
Steve had created individual training programs for Doug and Dawn as each were at different fitness levels. Doug has a cycling background so his challenge for the Dorney Lake Run10K was to complete it in under 45 minutes. Dawn had never run any distance in the past so her goal was to complete the 10K without stopping. Both of candidates successfully completed the run and Garmin is proud to have started them on their way to a running lifestyle.
Doug completed his run in 41 minutes and Dawn ran through the finish line at an hour and 6 minutes – great job!! A big thank you to Steve Halsall who has mentored our two runners during the past few weeks.
More detail of Doug and Dawn's journey as the Not-So-Average-Joe's will be posted on Steve's blog tomorrow.
