Garmin and Harley-Davidson Ride into Europe with the Road Tech Zūmo

Garmin and Harley-Davidson have expanded their existing relationship to a truly global level by launching a Road Tech Zūmo 660 Navigation System for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

For the first time Harley-Davidson riders outside of North America will be able to get their hands on the new Road Tech Zūmo.

Roger Jollis Garmin’s Director of OEM and Mobile Marketing said: “Garmin is the global leader in satellite navigation and is proud to continue its relationship with Harley-Davidson. The combination of two iconic marques promises to provide a unique on-bike experience.”

“Harley-Davidson riders are renowned the world over for their passion and commitment to riding and we hope that the new Road Tech Zūmo will add to their enjoyment.”

Designed by bikers, for bikers, this motorcycle-friendly Road Tech Zūmo 660 navigator is a customized version of Garmin’s popular motorcycle specific GPS device. A custom handlebar mount securely fixes the Road Tech Zūmo to the bike, but still allows for a quick removal. A built-in Harley Global Dealer database means riders can find their nearest dealer, no matter how far their trip takes them.

This portable navigator has a rugged, glove-friendly design which features an oversized touchscreen, complete with a 4.3” sunlight readable display. With advanced lane guidance, the navigator ensures the rider knows the correct lane to be in and 3D mapping of buildings in selected cities makes navigation even clearer. H.O.G.® members can also coordinate rallies and meet ups on the go by using the handy Bluetooth function.

Crucially the Road Tech Zūmo 660 is waterproof to IPX7 and is also UV light and fuel splash resistant, making it ideal for tough riding conditions. If riders are going further a-field, the Road Tech Zūmo 660 comes complete with pre-loaded European City Navigator NT mapping and a whole host of Points of Interest – including hotels, restaurants, petrol stations and attractions.

The Road Tech Zūmo 660 benefits from a high sensitivity GPS receiver, meaning that in forest or by tall buildings, riders will always have the coverage needed to navigate accurately. There is also an SD card slot allowing expansion of mapping or additional features such as Language Guides, Topographic cartography or the Good Pub Guide.

Even the most dedicated rider sometimes wishes to travel by other means, so the Road Tech Zūmo 660 comes with an automotive mount with integrated speaker and also has a rechargeable Lithium ion battery (up to 5 hours use) which is handy for navigating by foot or route planning in the comfort of the armchair.

The Road Tech Zūmo 660 will be available from November 2009 from authorized Harley-Davidson dealers, to find your local dealer visit www.harley-davidson.co.uk
