Garmin MTB Academy swells its ranks after Coed-y-Brenin

Garmin MTB Winner

The second member of the Garmin MTB Academy has taken his place on the roster following the 2nd event at Coed-y-Brenin, North Wales.

Adrian Rhodes-Patterson posted the fastest time and took the win completing the orienteering course in one hour three minutes aided by his Garmin Oregon 300 loaded with GB Discoverer mapping for Snowdonia National Park.

Adrian bagged himself a choice of Garmin GPS products, including the newly launched Dakota 20, a Commencal Super 4.1 bike worth £2,499 and a place in the Garmin MTB Academy plus a weekend riding with downhill legend Steve Peat.

He said “I felt I'd ridden well but messed up the first checkpoint, of all things. I just rode straight past it – too busy enjoying the singletrack and not paying attention to the Garmin on the first section!

“The Garmin is an impressive piece of kit and very easy to use, even on the move and in the rain. I still can't believe I've won a £2,500 bike and will get to find out how good top-of-the-range really is!

“As for riding with Steve Peat, I just hope I can keep up on the climbs and someone lends me some body armour for the downhills so I have a chance of surviving the weekend while learning from the best!”

The two remaining Garmin MTB Academy Days, at Glentress in Scotland (26 July) and Queen Elizabeth Park in Hampshire (16 August) still have spaces left but you'll have to quick to got onboard. Want to know more? Head over to bikeradar.com/garmin for details of the competition
