Train For Run 10k The Not-So-Average Joe Way!
Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, has teamed up with Cancer Research UK’s Run 10k event series to give two lucky people the chance to train for the Dorney Park Run 10k, one of 41 events held throughout the UK this Autumn, with health and fitness trainer to the stars, Steve Halsall.
The Not-so Average Joe competition will see one man and one woman take part in a six week training programme using Garmin Forerunner 405CX watches. The successful entrants will also be provided with trainers and personal gait analysis courtesy of fitness store, Runners Need.
Fitness mentor Steve Halsall will complete a full health check on the winners and then create a unique training plan for each person, before mentoring them throughout the lead up to their Run 10k event.
Steve said: “Anyone can run 10k; it’s not a distance that is preserved for elite athletes or fanatical runners.
“I’m not saying that it’s easy, but with training and a positive attitude, Run 10k is a challenge everyone can win. I can’t wait to meet the competition winners and get them started on their journey!”
Winners will also complete a weekly video blog, which will be followed by Steve on his mirror.co.uk site, where he will give hints and tips to help other budding runners on their way.
Andrew Silver, Fitness Product Manager for Garmin said: “It is important that the fear and uncertainty are taken out of running – and using the Forerunner to give you basic, accurate information about how you are running is a great way to start.
“Training for a Run 10k event can be fun and rewarding and even fits in to your daily routine – not to mention providing a great opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research UK at the same time.”
