A Glance At Tomorrow’s Technology Today

You may have noticed Garmin has launched a few new products this week. Well, that’s because we’ve been amongst many companies showcasing our latest products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Smartwatches, wearable tech, self watering plants, drones and more have been on display at the international event.

Amongst our many exciting announcements at CES this year have been smartwatches, fashion forward wearables, multisport watches and new developments in car navigation. Here is our 2015 CES lineup of announcements:

Garmin vívoactive – a lightweight and ultra-thin GPS smartwatch with built-in sports and activity tracking apps. Helping users develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle, vívoactive captures more activities with GPS-enabled running, cycling, golfing, swimming and activity tracking apps. vívoactive is comfortable for all day wear and smart notifications keep users connected with pressing work matters, family and friends. With the new Connect IQ store, users can easily customise vívoactive with free watch face designs, widgets and additional apps. vívoactive features a sunlight-readable, high-resolution colour touchscreen and can be accessorised with interchangeable bands to complement any outfit or occasion.

With the new EXO™ GPS antenna, fēnix 3 boasts features that support a full range of multisport activities, from advanced fitness training, to cross-country and alpine skiing, snowboarding, as well as hiking, climbing and trail running. It’s compatible with the Connect IQ™ store for even more smartwatch functionality and customization. Fēnix 3 comes in three variations: silver, grey, and the premium Sapphire Sapphire, which features a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. With uncompromising details like a stainless steel bezel and sunlight-readable high-resolution colour display, the fenix 3 combines the GPS and wearable technology that Garmin is known for with a sleek new form factor that suits both the outdoors and the boardroom.

vívofit 2 and the Style Collection- adding features to our popular daily activity tracker, and a line of interchangeable accessory bands to help users stay active no matter the occasion. vívofit 2’s new features help users develop lifelong healthy habits. In addition to the visual move bar on its always-on display, vívofit 2 also features audible alerts that remind users when it’s time to get up and move. An activity timer allows users to track and analyse individual workouts, and a newly added backlight provides better visibility in the dark. To satisfy a wide variety of fashion preferences, vívofit 2 can be accessorised with interchangeable design options. The Style Collection includes chic and classic looks from the Signature Series made from premium materials, such as leather and stainless steel.

By bringing the impeccable craftsmanship and modern style of the designer’s lifestyle brand to the vívofit family, the Jonathan Adler + Garmin line keeps users on trend while they develop lifelong healthy habits.

epix– the first-of-its-kind, rugged GPS mapping watch for outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a hands-free navigator. Featuring a 1.4” high-resolution colour touchscreen, epix comes preloaded with a worldwide shaded relief basemap, a free 1-year subscription to BirdsEye Satellite Imagery, plus 8 GB of built-in memory for additional maps. Epix boasts an omni-directional EXO™ steel antenna with GPS and GLONASS support for a quick fix and accurate position, as well as traditional altimeter/barometer/compass functionality. Epix outdoor GPS mapping watch is also compatible with ANT+ sensors like heart rate monitors and Tempe™ temperature sensor for even more data. Additionally, epix supports the Connect IQ™ store for customization and smartwatch capabilities. With a full menu of outdoor and navigation features, epix allows users to not only track where they’ve been, but plan for what’s ahead, right from their wrist.

dēzl 570/770– the two new devices are designed to meet the needs of truckers and address the unique challenges they face on the road. Large 5 and 7-Inch glass displays in a rugged housing make it easy to see information at a glance, even on a large dashboard. To assist truckers in the best possible way, the new dēzl devices add a range of new truck-specific features, such as easy route shaping, points of interest highly-rated by professional drivers, simple truck profiles and headset support (dēzl 770 only). Also new to the dēzl series are the latest navigation features from Garmin, including Garmin Real DirectionsTM, free HD Digital Traffic (dēzl 770 only), Up Ahead and Foursquare® data. Additionally, the dēzl 570 and dēzl 770 are compatible with the new BC 30TM backup camera, which provides a live camera feed from the rear of the vehicle to eliminate blind spots.
