Team Garmin competes in the PRL-S 100 Business Relay

This weekend, Team Garmin saddled up to compete in the Prudential RideLondon 2014. As the Official Timing and GPS partner of the mass-cycling event, it was only right that we also entered a team to cycle in the event.

Prudential RideLondon provides a fantastic platform to help fulfil The Mayor and TfL’s goal of encouraging more people to cycle more safely, more often. There is no other closed-road event like it that combines the fun and accessible element of a free family ride in central London, with the excitement of watching the world’s best professional cyclists race.

Over the two-day event (Saturday 9 – Sunday 10 August 2014) more than 20,000 cyclists crossed the finish line at this year’s event and despite the weather not being on our side, Team Garmin showed a great performance and peddled to ninth place out of 70 in the PRL-S 100 Business Relay.

Well done to everyone involved – Tim Piercy, Claude Oluoch-Olunya, Matthew Purkins and Martyn New.

As part of the partnership, Garmin provided a bespoke point of interest for park and ride services, and cycle routes to and from the event, along with a training plan for the participants – which is still available to download: http://www.garmin.com/uk/ridelondon.

The Mayor of London, Mayor Boris Johnson, described the event as “a fantastic advert for cycling in the city.” – We think so too! For more information, please visit: http://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk.
