Arenacross Youth Champion Claims Another Prize
Having been crowned Youth Rookie Champion at Garmin Arenacross earlier this year, 17 year old motocross fanatic Todd Kellett has gone one better, winning a competition that will see him become the first fully-supported Garmin VIRB youth athlete.
Todd, of Langport, Somerset, is one of over 40 youngsters to have competed as a youth rider in the 2014 Garmin Arenacross Series. Starting in Belfast on January 17th, the riders visited six major venues across the UK, with the tour culminating at Wembley Arena on 1st March.
As title sponsor of the event, Garmin, provided each youth rider with a VIRB Elite action camera, challenging the teens to create a three minute film of themselves preparing for the final event of the series. As well as filming their preparations for the final race, the riders attached the HD cameras to their helmets and bikes, creating captivating footage from the track, before editing their films and sending them to the judges.
Each film was reviewed by the Arenacross organisers and Garmin’s marketing team, with Todd’s engaging film being chosen as the winner. As a result, Todd is now a fully supported Garmin VIRB youth athlete and will receive a host of Garmin’s latest gadgets, as well as financial support for race entry costs. He’ll also have his helmet painted ‘Garmin-style’ to the envy of his fellow competitors.
Todd said, “I’m over the moon to have won the Garmin prizes. The whole experience of the Garmin Arenacross series was amazing and it was such good fun to be able to make the films using the VIRB camera and edit software. I can now make high quality videos every time I ride.”
Gail Cook, Garmin UK Marketing Communications Manager, says, “The standard of the films produced by the young riders was absolutely exceptional. On behalf of Garmin, I want to congratulate Todd, who we are delighted to support going forward as he is a very talented young man.”
