Brownlee storms to the top of World rankings
Garmin sponsored triathlete Alistair Brownlee continued his personal duel with World Champion Javier Gomez in Kitzbuhel over the weekend at the latest leg of the ITU World Champs Series. Having lost out in the recent European Championships, Alistair reclaimed top spot in the World Champs Series rankings with a blistering run that broke the World Champions resolve and continued his 100% record in the series.
With conditions reminiscent of his Yorkshire training base, Alistair endured a tough swim and bike sections, including a challenging transition that saw him losing a shoe at one point. But once into the run he ate into Gomez's lead and held on for the victory in the 4th of 8 series events. With a lead of 32 points over his main rival, Alistair was amazed at his latest victory, "I can't believe I won, I felt absolutely awful in the swim and out on the bike, but once I got on the run I felt great".
Next up is Hamburg in World Champ Series, followed by Alistair's home event in Hyde Park, London. Stay tuned for more from Alistair as he takes delivery on the latest of the Garmin fitness range - Forerunner 310XT.
