Explore Britain’s heritage on the move with a personal tour guide
Sat-nav owners can explore the hidden secrets and heritage of the Great British countryside with new audio commentary software by our partner RoadTour.
RoadTour Heritage works with selected models from the Garmin nuvi, zumo and Streetpilot ranges to describe and display images of 600 key historic attractions including castles, stately homes and battlefields.
The software describes landmark events in history as well as locations. It also gives you opening times and entry prices if you’re inspired to explore the attraction further on foot.
For just £19.99 you can invite some culture into your car, with 90-second descriptions of key heritage events and attractions automatically triggered by satellite prompts as you approach a location.
The launch of RoadTour Heritage coincides with research from YouGov which reveals that one in ten people think that the Romans built the A1 motorway while a quarter of those surveyed believe Leeds Castle is in Yorkshire, not Kent.
