Garmin adds its support to Sport Relief
Garmin has added its support to this years Sport Relief, the fundraising initiative brought together by Comic Relief and BBC. The whole initiative is aimed at encouraging the people of the UK to just do something sporty to raise money!
All the money raised is spent by Comic Relief to change lives both at home in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries. Here’s a few examples of whats going on across the country and how we at Garmin have added our support to this great cause.
Radio 1 DJs Chappers and Dave have been putting the Forerunner 305 through its paces during the Sport Relief Challenge. Since last Friday, 7th March, the duo have been facing up to the challenge of running a mile round every Premier League Football Ground in England and Scotland. A total of 32 clubs. Yesterday at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium, our mascot nüvito was on hand to present a pink nüvi to Sport Relief to auction off.
Alan Shearer and Match of the Day 2 presenter Adrian Chiles have announced a grueling challenge for Sport Relief. The duo will attempt to cycle 335 miles from Newcastle to London, via West Bromwich, in just two days in their Sport Relief Super Cycle. Garmin has donated nüvi 760 to help their support crew to lead the way. They leave St James’ Park, Newcastle on 13 March and aim to pedal into BBC Television Centre in London as part of the live Sport Relief show the following day.
Well over 100 famous faces have signed up to take part alongside people of all ages and abilities in Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events across the UK. Online registration for the 23 flagship national Mile closes at midnight on Thursday 13 March – so sign up now to guarantee your place.
