Garmin® Announces New Automotive Navigation Devices
Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, has announced a range of new automotive navigation devices: the 2014 Essential Series including models with 6-inch displays and the HUD+, Garmin’s popular head-up display with a free companion smartphone app.
The new range is being showcased in the Garmin booth (South Hall 4 #35812) at this year’s CES and is expected to become available in February 2014.

2014 Essential Series - First nüvi Models with 6-Inch Displays
Featuring bright 5-inch and Garmin’s first 6-inch dual-orientation displays, nüvi 55/56 and nüvi 65/66 provide affordable standalone navigation to get from A to B. The new sat navs feature premium functionalities and a refreshed user interface that were previously only available in the Advanced Series. New to the Essential Series Up Ahead shows a continuous stream of points of interest next to the map view, ensuring it has never been be easier to find places like petrol stations or restaurants along the route. With the quick search field, addresses and points of interest (POIs) can be easily found with only a few clicks. The Essential Series 2014 comes with Garmin RealVoiceTM a refined speech technology for spoken turn by turn directions that sounds more like a natural, friendly human voice. The new nüvi sat nav has safety camera alerts to help people drive safely and speed consciously. The proven Garmin Lane Assist with junction view helps to navigate motorways and junctions with ease ensuring a stress-free journey. All Essential devices come preloaded with detailed maps, millions of Points of Interest (POIs) and Lifetime Maps on select models. The nüvi 2014 Essential Series has suggested retail prices ranging from £89-£159, depending on the model.
HUD+ with New Companion Smartphone App
HUD+ combines Garmin’s popular portable head-up display with a new, free companion: the “Garmin HUD app”. HUD+ projects crisp and bright directions onto a transparent film on the windshield or an attached reflector lens. It receives navigation information from a Bluetooth®-connected smartphone running the free Garmin HUD navigation app (includes European maps), available from the App StoreSM, Google PlayTM, or Windows Phone® Store. By providing comprehensive road guidance at a glance and right within the driver’s line of sight, HUD+ can help increase safety and reduce driver distraction. HUD+ has a suggested retail price of £159.
