Garmin® begins partnership with the Association of Mountain Instructors (AMI)
Garmin® are proud to have started an exciting partnership with the AMI; the representative body for professionally qualified Mountaineering Instructors in the UK and Ireland.
This partnership will involve a provision of Garmin equipment with valuable feedback and testing from the experts in return. This will ensure Garmin continue to develop products that are built to last and provide our customers with the latest cutting edge features and technologies.
The AMI was formed in 1990 to represent the interests of highly experienced mountaineers, those who have undergone the rigorous training and assessment to qualify under the Mountain Training UK (MTUK) Mountaineering Instructor Scheme.
Greg Vulinovic, Outdoor Product Manager for Garmin in the UK said “We feel the partnership fits perfectly with the functions of our high end units, enabling us to get truly valued feedback from people living and breathing the outdoors daily in the most demanding of environments”.
Ed Chard, Development Officer from the AMI said “Our members work in all weathers, all year round and UK wide, we’re often in darkness or whiteout navigating with a map and compass. For us it’s a core skill. It’s good to know that Garmin are developing the tools to support our navigational decisions on the hill. With this partnership we look forward to developing modern mountain navigation further and testing products in some of the most challenging conditions in the world”.
AMI and Garmin recently enjoyed their first trip to Scotland leading an excited group of journalists in the beautiful Nevis Range in Scotland, on which the new Garmin fēnix was tested. The trip was a great success, with some great shots all detailed on this Garmin Adventures Trip http://goo.gl/P46ur To find and share your adventures go to adventures.garmin.com
