Garmin GPS scoops December awards to wrap up a winning year
Following our success in this month’s Which? Awards, which saw our nüvis named the independent consumer body’s top three sat navs, we’ve scooped another clutch of commendations.
Our new super-slim sat navs top the polls at Mobile Electronics News, Smartphone Essentials and MSN Cars, while the ever-popular 205 series continues to shine.
The sleek transatlantic nüvi 1370 grabbed Mobile Electronic News’ Best Portable Sat Nav over £200 Gold Award. Describing it as a “beast”, MEN applauded the 1370 for being “useful for far more than driving alone” and wraps up the review by concluding it’s “clever but easy to use and a well deserved Gold”. The nüvi 205wt bagged the Silver Award for Best Portable Sat Nav under £200.
The readers of Smartphone Essentials magazine named the nüvi 1390T Best GPS at a recent awards ceremony – the only one of its kind dedicated to smartphones and GPS products.
When MSN Cars got its hands on the nüvi 1490T they found our extra-wide sat nav “simple to use, rammed with features and with superb navigation to boot”. Declaring the route “faultless”, traffic jam alerts “spot on” and speed cameras “equally impressive”, they gave it 5/5 Best Buy Premium and crowned us “a worthy winner”.
MSN Cars was equally enthusiastic about the nüvi 205W, slapping it with the coveted ‘Best Budget Buy’ stamp. Reviewers found our entry-level sat nav “the bargain of the year”, adding “The navigation is superb, clear and easy to follow and it didn’t put a foot wrong”.
Our automotive GPS kit wasn’t our only sector to shine this month. Wired magazine includes references to the Forerunner 405 and Edge 705 in an article called ‘Witness to Fitness’, which praises Garmin Connect and the Edge’s “easy-to-use joystick navigation”, calling our bike computer “comprehensive life-tracking and navigation”.
