Garmin Health Summit Amsterdam: Wrap-up
The second annual Garmin Health Summit took place this year in Amsterdam on Sept. 19-20. The event was a great success, with attendees from 21 countries enjoying excellent networking opportunities and presentations from world leaders in the digital health industry.
The fully booked event hosted guests, including approximately 60% at the C-level (CEOs, etc.), from 90 different companies. Hospitals, HMOs, insurers and start-ups were all represented in the companies taking part in the two-day conference.
Serdar Gelberi, Daimler R&D senior manager for body and comfort electronics and fit and healthy systems, ushered in the event with a keynote speech, showcasing the in-car features offered by Mercedes-Benz ENERGIZING packages, in cooperation with Garmin.
On day two, Brona Magee, deputy CEO at SCOR Global Life, demonstrated how their Biological Age Model is revolutionizing the industry with the first step toward dynamic underwriting and personalized insurance. Alexander Bauer, senior managing consultant, leader insurance, at Watson IoT Industry Lab, examined how the Internet of Things could help reduce accidents in the workplace by incorporating data from Garmin wearables and other sensors to detect potential dangers in real time. Wrapping up the event, panelists discussed how to make the transition from pilot project to long-term commercial success with digital health solutions.
