Garmin® introduces vívofit® 2– an activity tracker with interchangeable design options to stay fashionably active
Schaffhausen, Switzerland, January 5, 2015— Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today announced vívofit 2 – the latest addition to the Garmin vívo line of daily activity trackers. vívofit 2 adds new features to the company’s popular daily activity tracker that help users stay active and develop healthy habits. In addition to the visual move bar on its always-on display, vívofit 2 also features audible alerts that remind users when it’s time to get up and move. An activity timer allows users to track and analyze individual workouts, and a newly added backlight provides better visibility in the dark. To satisfy a wide variety of fashion preferences, vívofit 2 can be accessorized with a collection of stylish interchangeable bands.
vívofit 2 is being showcased with the wide-ranging line of purpose-built Garmin wearables in the Garmin booth (South Hall 4 #35811) at this year’s CES.
“vívofit 2 removes all obstacles holding you back from establishing healthy habits,” said Andrew Silver, Garmin European Product Manager, Fitness. “Designed to be with you 24/7 with features including one-year battery life, audible move bar alert, always-on display with backlight and an assortment of easily interchangeable band options, vívofit 2 keeps you motivated wherever you go.”
vívofit 2 encourages users to be consistently active and can be worn 24/7. It features one-year battery life and is water-resistant to 50 meters1, so users rarely ever have to take it off. vívofit 2 monitors progress all day, setting a personalised daily step goal and sending a gentle reminder when users have been inactive too long by displaying a red move bar and sounding an alert. Research shows prolonged periods of inactivity, such as sitting at a desk, decreases the body’s production of fat-burning enzymes. Walking for a few minutes will reset the move bar and can help reduce health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle. The always-on display shows steps, calories, distance, time of day and features a backlight so users can easily check their stats day or night. During a workout users can pair vívofit 2 with a compatible heart rate monitor2 to track heart rate and zone data, or use its stopwatch feature to record timed activities with or without a heart rate monitor.
Throughout the day vívofit 2 automatically syncs with paired mobile devices3 through the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app, so users can see a complete picture of daily activities. In Garmin Connect, a free online fitness community, users can track sleep patterns and trends, join online challenges and earn virtual badges for extra motivation. For detailed calorie tracking users can link their Garmin Connect account with MyFitnessPal® to compare calories burned to consumed and see their net count for the remainder of the day based on goals set in MyFitnessPal.
vívofit 2 will be available in black, white, navy and pink. It will begin shipping in Q2 and will have a suggested retail price of £99.99 and £129.99 (black or white heart rate monitor bundle).
Three-pack coloured accessory bands⁴ will be available in neutral (black, slate and white), downtown (burgundy, slate and navy), active (red, blue and green), serenity (mint, cloud, lilac), and energy (canary, pink and violet) for a suggested retail price of £19.99.
In addition to the interchangeable bands in an array of bold and neutral colours, Garmin also announces the Style Collection’s Signature Series line. Keeping users on trend while they work toward fitness goals, the Signature Series features an assortment of fashionable designs for women and men made from premium materials, including leather and stainless steel, with a variety of finishes to complement any outfit. The Signature Series will be available in Q2 2015.
vívofit 2 is the latest from Garmin’s expanding fitness segment, which focuses on developing technologies and innovations to enhance users’ lives and promotes healthy and active lifestyles. Whether it’s running, cycling, or other athletic pursuits, Garmin fitness devices are becoming essential tools for athletes both amateur and elite.
