 11-20 September 2015 | Stand G157

Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, will showcase its comprehensive range of innovative marine electronics at Southampton Boat Show 2015.

New products on the stand will include Garmin’s GPSMAP 7400 series, the latest HD action camera, VIRB XE, the GHP Reactor Autopilot Series and GNX 120 and 130 large format marine instruments for sailors. Visitors at the show will also be the first to hear about the latest update to Garmin’s BlueChart Mobile 2.0 App and see Garmin’s Panoptix – an intuitive multi-beam transducer using phased-array scanning sonar technology.

GPSMAP 7400 Series

SIBS 7400
Garmin has introduced new additions to its innovative range of multifunction displays (MFDs). The units are offered in sonar and non-sonar versions and feature CHIRP DownVü and SideVü. The GPSMAP 7400 series is a premiere line that streamlines high performance, usability and superior boating features with a renowned interface that makes any time on the water more productive and enjoyable.

The GPSMAP 7400 series encompasses the same performance and dependability customers have grown to expect from the GPSMAP range. With full pinch-to-zoom touchscreen capabilities, these devices integrate features that are perfect for sailors, powerboaters and fishermen. Full-network compatibilities allow the user to add sensors, multiple screens, remote sonar modules, weather, radar, autopilot, thermal and IP camera visibility, digital switching and more. All units in the GPSMAP 7400 series also offer the conveniences of built-in WiFi connectivity for use with the Garmin Helm™ and BlueChart Mobile 2.0 apps.

VIRB XE

SIBS VIRB
Those visiting the stand will get to see the VIRB XE – Garmin’s brand new waterproof HD action camera. Compact and capable of shooting rich, high-definition, wide-angle footage, VIRB XE is the perfect gadget to capture high octane adventures – whether at sea or onshore. Designed to withstand the toughest environments, the camera is waterproof to 50 meters and does not require an external case for underwater shooting.

Featuring a hydrophobic, flat glass lens, underwater shots are crystal clear while transitions in and out of the water are unobstructed by droplets. The VIRB XE also boasts a new microphone for extremely clear audio, even underwater. The camera provides an exciting new user experience with G-Metrix, using a multitude of built-in sensors and wireless options. Data can be streamed to the GPSMAP 7400 series using the inbuilt Wi-Fi and to the GPSMAP 8000 series using a Wi-Fi router. G-Metrix captures action data, such as speed, from your sailing boat and turns it into animated data overlays, creating a richer viewer experience.

GHP Reactor Autopilot Series

Garmin’s recently launched GHP Reactor Autopilot Series with 9 axis AHARS, developed originally for Garmin’s aviation autopilot, is the most responsive autopilot on the water. Designed to mount nearly anywhere and in any orientation, the GHP Reactor Autopilot Series sets the standard for performance, ease-of-use and safety while minimising set up and commissioning time.

Large format marine instruments – GNX 120 and 130

SIBS GNX
Garmin’s large format marine instruments – GNX 120 and 130 – allow the users to make confident decisions while out sailing. The instruments display more than 50 marine and boat parameters for wind, sea and vessel conditions, with bold 70mm digits that are the largest in class.

Garmin’s latest products for serious sailors create a beautiful “glass mast” with a carbon fibre mast bracket, providingquality, precision and total integration. Featuring a high-contrast monochrome LCD screen for superior readability day and night. The instruments allow seamless sharing of sailing data between Garmin devices and are controlled from a compatible GNX keypad.

BlueChart Mobile 2.0 App

New from Garmin this year is an update to its free BlueChart Mobile 2.0 app, which provides the user with the same feature-rich and highly accurate BlueChart data available for Garmin chartplotters.

BlueChart Mobile 2.0 allows mariners to plan routes on a compatible tablet or mobile digital device from the comfort of their living rooms or below deck. The updated app now allows users to wirelessly stream the weather data from cellular-based devices to compatible Garmin chartplotters.

Panoptix All Seeing Sonar

SIBS Panoptix
Previously only available in the offshore commercial market, Garmin Panoptix is a multi-beam transducer that uses a phased-array scanning sonar technology, ideal for near-shore or freshwater fishing. The state of the art technology gives mariners the ability to see all around a vessel in real time – forwards, backwards, sideways and downwards, even while the boat is stationary.

Equipped with Garmin’s RealVü 3D technology, Panoptix scans all around the boat and creates forward-looking 3D views of the bottom, structure and fish. Garmin’s LiveVü provides the user with ‘live video’ style visuals, allowing you to monitor real-time moving sonar images in front of and below the boat. Whether seeing a near picture quality representation of what’s below the vessel such as wreckage or brush piles, or gaining crucial insight to the sides of the boat, scanning sonar has become an integral part of every boating and fishing experience.
