Garmin’s® speedy coverage in Ireland

Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, has added more than 300 new mobile camera zones to the existing 570 mobile zones and 17 fixed cameras in the Republic of Ireland, for a total of  887.
Each of these zones can be up to 7-8km long and involve between two and five speed limit changes throughout the zone which is mapped into the database.

Every Garmin sat nav comes loaded with information on camera locations for the UK and Ireland, as well as Europe on selected models. The freqent updates provided by Garmin mean users will get every current mobile zone, with all the correct speed limits, delivered in an accurate and reliable manner.
Garmin’s unique database of camera locations, managed by speed camera specialist Cyclops, is split into individual speed limit zones in the Republic of Ireland.

This is continuously checked and refreshed.  As part of the normal process of updating, Cyclops has cross referenced all the new mobile sites against known locations where cameras have been placed in the past. As a result, anyone who updates maps on their Garmin sat nav will get all the latest fixed or mobile, average speed, variable or temporary cameras / roadwork’s sites or red light speed camera information.

Each location is physically inspected to confirm camera type, direction, average speed and distance covered, so when you’re driving you’ll only be alerted about the cameras specific to the road you are travelling and in the direction you’re travelling– avoiding irritating false alarms.

As cameras can be relocated any time or increased in numbers, the only way to be fully informed is by getting your sat nav updated regularly. To get a free trial of Garmin’s safety cameras on your sat nav or to subscribe to regular updates go to www.garmin.ie/freecameras.

Also, Garmin now offers subscription free premium traffic alerts for Dublin and surrounding areas on all units with a ‘T’ after the model number. This includes vital delay and severity information- reducing the time you are sitting in traffic. For further information please visit www.garmin.ie/traffic
