GPS navigation and geocaching open day: Saturday 22 October

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts – come to a special GPS navigation and geocaching open day on the first Saturday of the half-term holidays and try your hand at a range of outdoor skills.

GPS Training has joined forces with David Stewart of Walkingworld, Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team and Shepherds Walks (Jane Monks, specialist in Nordic Walking) to organise an open day at Mungrisdale Village Hall in the heart of the Lake District. Come and learn how to stay safe in the hills by improving your GPS know-how during free workshops on map reading, compass skills, BaseCamp, GPS and Nordic walking — all while using shockproof Garmin GPS units.

This is your chance to meet the GPST Team and get your hands on the new Garmin Montana and eTrex ranges, test them on a chirp geotrail and learn how to use OS mapping and BaseCamp to plan routes and trails.
The event aims to raise funds for the Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team. Also coming along are NE geocaching supplies and Inntravel.
