New Transducer Line from Garmin Boasts Scanning Sonar

Garmin Ltd, the global leader in satellite navigation, has announced a new line of scanning transducers designed to accommodate any calibre of mariner, from the casual cruiser to the professional angler.

Supporting both the newest lines of Garmin echoMAP and GPSMAP chartplotters and multifunction displays (MFD), this full array of thru-hull and transom-mounted transducers are a valuable addition to any vessel.

“Scanning sonar has proven itself to be a valuable tool for locating fish and structure while out on the water,” said Dan Bartel, Vice President of Worldwide Sales. “These new transducers not only provide our crystal clear DownVü and SideVü scanning technology, they offer a variety of mounting options and price points for boaters, anglers and mariners of all types. No matter who you are or what you do on the water, scanning sonar can be at your fingertips.”

Garmin provides the clearest scanning sonar on the water. Whether seeing a near picture quality representation of what’s below the vessel with DownVü, such as wreckage or brush piles, or gaining crucial insight to the sides of the boat with SideVü, scanning sonar has become an integral part of every boating and fishing experience. This newest line of transducers implements these technologies, providing a scanning solution for every vessel type and budget.

The GT21/40/41 series of transducers complement the newest echoMAP products and come with an in-hull or transom-mount option. The GT21 series provides DownVü scanning sonar at 260/455kHZ and traditional sonar at 50/200kHz, offering an optimised experience for rough conditions and depth performance. For a clearer image in shallower depths, the transom-mounted, all-in-one GT40 offers both SideVü and DownVü scanning sonar at 455/800kHz, while also providing traditional sonar at 77/200kHz. The GT41 transducer series provides an all-in-one option optimised for saltwater by offering SideVü and DownVü scanning sonar at 260/455kHz and traditional sonar at 50/200kHz.

In addition to being fully compatible with the GT21/40/41 series, the GPSMAP series also receives new dedicated scanning transducer options with the GT50/51. Available in both thru-hull or transom style, the GT50/51 are all-in-one transducers that offer DownVü, SideVü and CHIRP sonar. For shallow waters, the GT50 runs DownVü and SideVü at 455/800kHz and CHIRP at 80/160kHz. For deeper waters and potentially rougher conditions, the GT51 scans 260/455kHz for DownVü and SideVü and 80/160kHz for CHIRP.

A Garmin transducer selection guide is available online and in paper form to help decipher which transducer is appropriate for which style of chartplotter and vessel. To learn more about the new line of scanning transducers, visit www.garmin.com/transducers/.
