This summer you’ll be lost without a Garmin
With so many of us enjoying a stay-cation this summer, Garmin the world leader in GPS navigation have launched their ‘You’ll be lost without it’ summer campaign with the aim of introducing the UK and Irish population to ways of using their GPS to rediscover and make more of what’s around them.
This summer’s radio campaign harks back to the bucket and space holiday, or stay-cation as it’s been warmly termed by most media pundits, we all used to enjoy. And every Garmin sat nav purchased this summer will come packed with a choice of exclusive summer offers to help those holidaying at home. From a FREE MOT, to ensure your car is road worthy for the travels around the UK to great savings off days out, hotel stays and ferry crossings Chris Merrell, UK & Ireland Marketing Manager explains ‘that our summer campaign will aid the British and Irish population to rediscover what’s around them with our brand new slimline sat navs, it’s a case of Garmin owners literally now just have to worry about the car sing songs as we’ll take care of the rest’.
Alongside the growth of sat nav products, Garmin are also pioneers in GPS technologies for sport and recreation activities. This summer’s ‘You’ll be lost without it’ campaign will also include ideas for getting out and about to enjoy the predicted ‘Indian summer’ as well as helping you to keep in shape following all those summer barbeques.
First out of the gate was the launch of the Garmin MTB Academy which in conjunction with the UK’s most decorated Mountain Bike rider Steve Peat, offers the Mountain Biking community of the UK the opportunity to take part in series of challenges using Garmin Edge and Oregon GPS cycling products in some of the best locations the UK has to offer with a prize fund of £30k.
With the challenging economic climate seeing many of us cutting back on our gym membership, Garmin has stepped into help with the launch of its six week training plans. The FR60 6 week challenge takes two average joes and shows what can be achieved by following a training plan and using a Garmin FR60 sports watch. Great also if you’re taking part in Cancer Research’s Run 10k series which Garmin is the Official Training partner to.
Coming up with new ideas for inexpensive activities over the long school holidays won’t be a challenge either as Garmin takes the Geocaching message to the UK this summer. Its County-caching competition, a photo competition merged with Geocaching, will help take the kids away from the games console and out into the country side to participate in one of the world’s fastest growing activities. County caching with Garmin will see ‘muggles’ and seasoned cachers foraging across the UK country side for specially located caches from www.geocaching.com/garminphoto with everyone in with a chance of winning a holiday in Canada or a newly launched Oregon 550 GPS handheld, but definitely enjoying this family friendly activity.
