Tough Oregon touchscreen survives Gadget Show trauma test

The Garmin Oregon 450 GPS handheld has proved it’s as rugged as it claims to be. The Gadget Show on Channel 5 set out to destroy some of the world’s toughest gadgets to see if any would survive.

The 'Tested to Destruction' challenge began with the team drenching the gadgets on a high-speed powerboat, then tossing them from a helicopter. Not content with that, they were then blown up with explosives.

Despite being subjected to whatever the Gadget Show team dreamt up, the Oregon 450 made it through and survived to tell the tale. After being retrieved from the rubble, it turned on and was ready for action.
