Garmin Supports Ken Fowler on his Race to Scotland
UK./April 26, 2017/ Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), today announced the sponsorship of Ken Fowler on his Race to Scotland in a single handed dinghy.
Ken Fowler, 51, will attempt to sail a 13ft dinghy on the Lands End to John O’Groats Journey. This adventure will start on May 7th and Ken Fowler plans to complete this trip in 20 to 30 days. Ken Fowler will try to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK and Oakhaven Hospice by sailing solo for 8 to 10 hours a day for 900 plus miles in a small dinghy. Find out more: www.racetoscotland.co.uk
Ken Fowler will use Garmin electronics and will be equipped with detailed charts and best-in-class electronics and technology. The two Garmin GPSMAP® 276Cx with Bluechart® g2 HD will be used by Ken Fowler and his in-land team to plan routes and waypoints and will provide them with precise navigation, both off and on the water.
Additionally, Ken Fowler will be able to record and replay his training and adventure via his Garmin VIRB® Ultra 30. Thanks to the quatix® 3, he will be able to control his Garmin VIRB® Ultra 30 camera right from his wrist. The built-in barometer will monitor barometric pressure to help him detect changing weather conditions.
