Vacation Mode with Garmin
It’s that time of year — summer travel is in full swing, and people are seeking out new destinations, both near and far from home. No matter where your next adventure takes you, exploring new places has never been easier with Garmin. Whether heading out for a run while on vacation, or just trying to find new routes at home, there are plenty of features on your Garmin watch or in Garmin Connect™ to help you stay on track.
Mapping
Several Garmin wearables include on-board, full-color maps right from the wrist, making it easy to head out for a run through busy city streets or explore off the beaten path.
Courses
If your Garmin wearable includes built-in mapping, it’s easy to create courses right on your watch. Looking to run a 5-mile loop or go for a long bike ride? Looking to explore nearby points of interest? You can quickly create those courses from the wrist. For those who don’t have a watch with built-in mapping, you can create courses in Garmin Connect and sync them to your device before heading out. You can also create courses on other platforms such as Strava and Komoot, then automatically sync them to your watch.
Popularity Routing
No matter where you are, you can explore like a local thanks to Trendline™ popularity routing. Using billions of miles of data that other Garmin users have uploaded, Garmin Connect can find the best route — choosing from the roads and trails most traveled.
Music
Take music with you on your next adventure. Several Garmin wearables allow you to download your songs, plus playlists from Spotify®, Deezer or Amazon Music to listen to your favorite tunes on the go — no phone needed1. If you don’t have a compatible Garmin device, you can still control music on your phone from your watch.
Garmin Pay™
Leave your wallet behind and still make purchases while out exploring with Garmin Pay™. The contactless payment solution lets you stop for a bite to eat or pick up one more souvenir and quickly pay right from the wrist2.
Activity Profiles
Switch up your routine while on vacation. Your Garmin offers dozens of different activity profiles, including cycling, running, pool and open-water swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, golfing, hiking and more if you’re feeling adventurous3.
Wellness Tracking
Whether you’re enjoying a late night out or an early-morning workout, Garmin will help you keep track of your health stats so you’re feeling your best during vacation. Body Battery™ will monitor your body’s energy levels throughout the day and night, giving you a better idea of when you should take it easy. Meanwhile, sleep metrics will give you a look at your sleep quality and if you have a compatible Garmin watch, you will receive a sleep score that lets you know if your sleep was more restful or more stressful. You can view these features on your compatible watch and through Garmin Connect.
Pause Training Status
If you’re taking a break from training while on vacation, be sure to pause your training status. Don’t worry, your watch will still analyze training data and provide VO2 max and training load, but feedback related to training status, training load focus, optimal training load ranges and daily suggested workouts will be turned off. Instructions on how to pause and resume training status can be found here.
Golf Scores, Dive Logs and Surf Activities
If you’re hitting the links, plunging to new depths or riding the waves during your vacation, there is plenty of data — including golf scorecards, golf course stats, dive logs, the number of waves surfed and more — that you can view right from your compatible watch or in Garmin Connect following your activity.
