Garmin Associates Give Back to Local Communities on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
For a third straight year, Garmin U.S. associates were provided the opportunity to spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day giving back to their local communities. As part of Garmin’s MLK Day of Service, Garmin associates on January 16 contributed monetary donations and performed meaningful acts of community service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy of equality, humanitarianism and service.

“This special day of service was created to allow our associates the opportunity to take a step away from their desks and make a lasting impact in their communities,” said Laurie Minard, vice president of human resources. “We are proud to carry on Dr. King’s legacy through servant leadership and greater acceptance and unity of diverse communities.”
In total, Garmin associates raised nearly $385,000 for numerous non-profit charities across the country. The company matched each designation of $50 or more made toward the United Way.
Since 2021, Garmin has treated Martin Luther King Jr. Day as “a day on, not a day off” and a day of action, reflection and a call to service. Garmin associates — along with the Garmin corporate match — have donated a total of more than $800,000 and provided tens of thousands of hours of service in the first three years of the initiative.
