How You Can Use HSA/FSA Funds to Buy Garmin Products

It’s that time again: You need to spend what’s left in your flexible spending account (FSA). We’re still a couple months away from the end of the year, so there’s no better time to start planning how to use up your FSA dollars.

An eligible Garmin product might be the perfect way to do that.

What is an HSA or FSA?

Health savings accounts (HSAs) and FSAs are two types of tax-advantaged plans that allow you to set aside pretax money to pay for certain medical costs. With an FSA, you must spend the money within the year, while funds in an HSA belong to you — regardless of how much you spend at the end of the year.

Can you use HSA/FSA dollars to buy Garmin products?

The short answer: Yes; however, it’s limited to eligible products including smart scales and monitors.

How does this work?

It’s as easy as adding the device to your cart. Just make sure you only have HSA/FSA-eligible products — like those smart scales and monitors — in your cart when you check out. If you want to buy a watch to track your health, that needs to be a separate purchase (but one we highly recommend).

What products can I buy?

The following products are eligible for an HSA/FSA purchase: Index™ BPM smart blood pressure monitor, Index™ S2 smart scale, HRM-Fit™, HRM-Pro™ Plus, HRM-Dual™ and HRM-Swim™. Let’s break them down.

Index BPM smart blood pressure monitor1: This FDA-cleared medical device, featuring an all-in-one design, delivers blood pressure and heart rate readings. You can optionally sync with the Garmin Connect™ app, add up to 16 user profiles and share reports with your health care provider.

Index S2 smart scale: This sleek scale will show your weight, weight trend, body mass index, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, bone mass and body water percentage. Plus, you can sync your data to Garmin Connect.

HRM-Fit: Designed for women, this heart rate monitor with up to one year of battery life clips onto medium- and high-support sports bras. It captures running stats, including vertical oscillation, ground contact time balance, stride length and vertical ratio, transferring data to your compatible Garmin smartwatches, Edge® cycling computers and apps. Don’t have your watch on? It also tracks steps, calories burned, intensity minutes and all-day heart rate2.

HRM-Pro Plus: This heart rate monitor captures running stats, including vertical oscillation, ground contact time balance, stride length and vertical ratio, sending data to your compatible Garmin smartwatches, Edge cycling computers and apps. It provides up to one year of battery life, plus it has a tool-free battery door.

HRM-Dual: Get real-time, heart rate data sent to your compatible Garmin smartwatches, Edge cycling computers and apps with this monitor that has a battery life of up to 3.5 years. Oh, and the strap is washable.

HRM-Swim: This monitor has a nonslip strap and is specifically designed for swimmers. Once you’re out of the water, it sends data, including real-time heart rate, interval summaries and stored heart rate to your compatible devices.
