It’s a Perfect Time to Virtually Plan Your Next Voyage — and Unite with the ActiveCaptain Community
Being away from your boat isn’t ideal. Like you, we are boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts, and we are driven to dream up, develop, market and support products that we all love to use.
Particularly during this time, we remain committed to ensuring that our essential services continue uninterrupted to help all who use our waterways. Many of the data providers that Garmin and Navionics charts are built from have assured their continued service, and we aim to deliver these chart updates and new content to all who make their living on the water — and those at home planning for the days to come.
Gathered knowledge from fellow boaters who share their experience and information is incredibly valuable, and this community is answering the call to help improve cartography for the benefit of those who depend on it.
Alongside our commitment to continued service, this is a perfect time for the boating community to unite via the Garmin ActiveCaptain Community and Navionics Community Edits to prepare for the time when we’re all back on the water. Through these tools you can virtually plan your next voyage, and while doing so, share what you know by adding and editing community content that can improve all of our future on-the-water adventures.
The ActiveCaptain Community is available through the ActiveCaptain Community website, the ActiveCaptain app and the Navionics Boating app. The Community Edits layer is available through the Navionics Boating app and the Navionics ChartViewer.
Every addition, edit, rating and review added to either tool is available to millions of boaters across the globe through mobile and web. ActiveCaptain updates come to all Garmin chartplotter owners via ActiveCaptain sync. Community Edits updates are released daily to all Navionics chartplotter cards through daily updates.
Both ActiveCaptain and Community Edits receive hundreds of thousands of worldwide chart inputs every year , and these impactful, easy-to use, crowd-sourcing tools enable all boaters to share their experiences in near-real time to all who use the devices and applications.
All you need is a Garmin or Navionics account to start contributing right away by adding or editing points of interest (POI), reviews and comments — and you can do this all from your mobile devices and from the worldwide web.
With increased contribution during this stay-at-home time, we can work to be sure that as soon as we are back on board, our on-the-water experience will be as rewarding as ever.
