Garmin® announces cycling updates at Interbike

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today
announced cycling updates for the Edge® 520, Edge 820, Edge 1000 and
Forerunner® 735XT. These are being demoed on the Garmin connected bike
at the Interbike show in Las Vegas, booth #9131.

  • New LiveTrack Auto Start – Garmin is excited to announce a new
    auto start on Garmin Connect Mobile™ for LiveTrack and
    GroupTrack. This new feature will provide users the ability to
    seamlessly use these features without needing to pull out their
    compatible smartphones1 before a ride. With auto start it
    is now easier than ever for users to be tracked by friends, family and
    fellow riders, helping them get home safely.
  • Strava Beacon – Garmin users who are also Strava Premium
    members will soon be able to use Beacon, the social network’s new
    safety feature, with their automatic Garmin LiveTrack sessions. Beacon
    allows athletes to share their location information in real-time with
    up to three safety contacts, offering peace of mind for the athlete as
    well as for their friends and family.
  • Shimano Di2 – Garmin and Shimano are working to further
    integrate support between Garmin Edge devices and the Shimano Di2
    electronic shifting systems. Garmin will be extending the Edge support
    for Di2 Dura-Ace top buttons to control ANT+ bike lights, including
    the Varia™ smart bike lights, through their Di2 systems.2
  • Trek – Cyclists can now use their compatible Edge device to
    automatically control Bontrager’s Transmitr line of ANT+ lights.
    Bontrager Flare RT, Ion 350 RT and Ion 700 RT lights will turn on
    automatically with the Edge and the ambient light sensor in the Edge
    820 and Edge 1000 will set the appropriate lighting configuration for
    the day or night.
