Garmin® to Provide Navigation for the Citroën C3 Picasso
HANNOVER, Germany–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, announced today that it is working with leading French automotive manufacturer PSA-Peugeot Citroën to provide a new portable navigation accessory for Citroën customers. Available as an after-market accessory, drivers of the new Citroën C3 Picasso will be able to experience the advantages of Garmin navigation, and the companies anticipate integrating Garmin devices with other Peugeots and Citroën models later this year.
PSA Peugeot Citroën and Garmin have designed the nüvi® 765 portable navigation device (PND) to fit seamlessly into the new Citroën C3 Picasso by ensuring the device integrates with the car’s power. The powerful nüvi 765 has state-of-the-art technology such as ecoRoute™, lane assist and junction view, 3-D city views, GPS HotFix™ technology, photo navigation, Bluetooth and MP3 support.
“Garmin is delighted to be working with PSA-Peugeot Citroën to provide navigation for such a stylish, innovative model,” said Roger Jollis, Garmin’s director of OEM & mobile marketing. “We’re confident that Citroën C3 Picasso drivers will appreciate the same high standards of quality and design from Garmin as they have with Peugeot Citroën cars.”
Citroën C3 Picasso customers will benefit from the nüvi 765 advanced features like lane assist, which guides the driver to the correct lane when approaching a turn or exit by displaying life-like road signs on the display. This feature makes unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate.
It has a large, 4.3-inch display and comes preloaded with detailed street maps and millions of points of interest (POI) such as hotels, restaurants, fuel stations and ATMs. The European version includes a preloaded safety camera database containing locations of cameras for parts of Europe.
Also included is ecoRoute™, a free, downloadable software for existing nüvi 765 owners and standard on all new units. It adds ecology-minded features including detailed fuel and mileage expense reports, CO2 emissions reports, economical routing with cost of journeys, and even tips on how to improve driving to become more environmentally friendly.
Fast satellite reception is due to the HotFix™ feature that automatically calculates and stores critical satellite information to quickly locate satellites to get the first GPS fix. This helps to ensure that guidance from the nüvi 765 is ready to go within seconds of the unit powering up.
In addition, the unit comes standard with Garmin’s popular “Where Am I?” safety feature, including breakdown services information (where available). At the touch of the car icon, drivers can look up their exact location including nearest address and intersection, the closest hospitals, police stations or fuel stations.
The nüvi 765 is expected to be available as the Citroën C3 Picasso is launched across Europe. Garmin anticipates availability of the nüvi 765 at Citroën dealers starting in March.
