Garmin® anglers Jason Christie and Greg Hackney claim top-10 finishes at the world’s most prestigious bass angling event
Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), today
announced that two of its marine pro team anglers, Jason Christie and
Greg Hackney, placed second and tenth respectively at the 2016 GEICO
Bassmaster Classic, commonly referred to as the world championship of
fishing. Christie and Hackney, along with the other Garmin anglers,
relied on Garmin’s revolutionary Panoptix™ all-seeing sonar technology,
GPSMAP® combination units and LakeVü HD Ultra to be
competitive at this year’s Bassmaster Classic at Grand Lake O’ the
Cherokees outside Tulsa, Okla. Grand Lake is one of the 99 MaxDef lakes
surveyed by Garmin and available to its customers with an unprecedented
level of detail.
Christie, who had a commanding lead of nearly six pounds after the first
two days, finished with a total haul of 50 pounds, two ounces. Hackney’s
final score was forty pounds, nine ounces. Christie and Hackney were
among the five Garmin pro team anglers fishing this year’s Classic.
“We are incredibly proud of Jason and Greg, and all of the Garmin
anglers who competed in this year’s Bassmaster Classic,” said David
Dunn, Garmin senior manager, marine sales and marketing. “We’ve more
than doubled our team of professional anglers from last year, and it’s
remarkable to see what a difference using Garmin products – particularly
Panoptix – is making for them on high-profile stages like the Classic.
We continue to be committed to being a top player in the freshwater
fishing industry, and we’re confident there will be many more top
finishes for the Garmin team this season.”
