Garmin® Adds New Features to PRO Series of Electronic Dog Training Collars

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the introduction of the PRO 70, PRO 550, and the PRO Trashbreaker – three new electronic dog training collars that are packed with new features, yet easy as ever to use.

“We’ve taken the proven design of Tri-Tronics® tube-style transmitters and have given them new functionality for the serious amateur or professional dog trainer,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Whether it’s retrievers, bird dogs, or hounds, the PRO Series has trainers and hunters covered.”

The new PRO series allows intuitive one-hand training so a handler can remain focused on their dog. The handheld transmitters feature a top-mounted intensity dial for stimulation and a series of large, tactile front buttons along with toggle switches to issue different types and levels of corrections. The PRO Series handhelds have a water rating of IPX7, meaning they can withstand incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

All units have compact and rugged receivers with interchangeable three-quarter inch collar straps and removable short or long contact points are included. All receivers have a water rating of up to 1 ATM, meaning they are able to withstand pressures equivalent to a water depth of ten meters (33 feet). The receivers also feature beacon lights that are remotely activated by the transmitter, to better view a dog in the dark. And when not being used as a training collar, the unit can serve double duty as an auto-level BarkLimiter™, keeping in check the amount of noise a dog makes.

The PRO 70 is a perfect all-around training tool, no matter the dog. It has six levels of continuous stimulation, which can be quickly adjusted to meet the dog’s temperament and the situation at hand. Trainers can also send an audible tone to the collar receiver. The PRO 70 has a range of up to one mile, and can be expanded to train up to six dogs (additional receivers sold separately). The front buttons are color-coordinated to correspond to each dog’s collar strap. The PRO 70 system has a minimum retail price of $299.99.

The PRO 550 is designed for serious trainers who demand the ultimate in precision and versatility. It has 21 levels of continuous and momentary stimulation, as well as vibration and tone settings. The PRO 550 also has a range of up to one mile, and can be expanded to train up to three dogs (additional receivers sold separately). For bird hunters, the PRO 550 is compatible with the Tri-Tronics Upland Beeper (sold separately), making a dog easier to locate in thick brush. The PRO 550 system has a minimum retail price of $399.99.

The PRO Trashbreaker is purpose-built for houndsmen – capable of controlling nine dogs (additional receivers sold separately) up to four miles away. The unit has six levels of continuous stimulation and a tone setting, and the front buttons are color-coordinated to correspond to each dog’s collar. The PRO Trashbreaker has a minimum retail price of $449.99.

The PRO Series of dog training devices are the latest innovations in Garmin’s growing outdoor segment, which focuses on developing technologies to enhance users’ outdoor experiences. Whether hiking, hunting, geocaching, golfing, dog training, or capturing it all on VIRB action cameras, Garmin outdoor devices are becoming essential tools for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels. For more information about Garmin’s other outdoor products and services, please visit www.garmin.com/proseries, www.garmin.blogs.com and http://twitter.com/garmin.
