Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the
global leader in satellite navigation, today announced a new model of
rugged two-way radio handhelds, the Rino 650t. Boasting a built-in
5-watt FRS/GMRS radio for a communication range of up to 20 miles, the
Rino 650t comes preloaded with detailed TOPO U.S. 100K maps and a

1. Like previous Rino models, the new
650t features a 2.6” glove-friendly color display and a full
navigational toolset with high-sensitivity GPS, barometric altimeter,
3-axis electronic compass and NOAA weather radio. The Rino 650t is ideal
for anyone who wants to navigate safely, easily communicate, and share
position information and more without relying on sporadic cell service
while out on the trail.

“The Rino series provides a unique safety net to the outdoorsman,
providing real time location information, as well as a means to
communicate at the touch of a button,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice
president of worldwide sales. “We’re excited to add the 650t to the Rino
line with preloaded TOPO maps, and BirdsEye Satellite imagery, so no
matter if users are hiking, hunting or even backcountry skiing, they’ll
be able to keep their bearings with the detailed mapping and easily
communicate with their group.”

Featuring a 2.6” color touchscreen display, the Rino 650t has a built-in
5-watt two-way FRS/GMRS radio. With a range of up to two miles over FRS
and 20 miles of GMRS, users can communicate with the touch of a button,
or utilize the unique Position Reporting feature to send and receive the
exact GPS location of other Rino users. The Rino 650t also supports
exchanging short text messages in the field through radio signals and
information like waypoints, routes, tracks and geocaches through ANT+
with many other compatible Garmin devices. In addition to transferring
data from unit-to-unit, the Rino 650t also supports Garmin
Basestation
, which allows users to track their units on a computer
through Garmin BaseCamp™, letting them access their data on a larger
screen.

With the built-in high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix® and quad
helix antenna, the Rino 650t can acquire GPS location quickly and
maintain an accurate reading, even in heavy cover. It comes preloaded
with TOPO U.S. 100K maps, as well as a one-year subscription to BirdsEye
Satellite imagery for extremely detailed mapping data. With the microSD
card slot, the 650t is also compatible with additional maps like HuntView™
to see public and private land data while hunting or BlueChart®
g2
while out on the water. The Rino 650t is equipped with a 3-axis
electronic compass as well as an altimeter for accurate elevation data
and a barometer to keep track of short-term changes in air pressure,
which can predict weather changes. Additionally, the 650t has a built-in
NOAA weather radio, which displays county lines as well as storm watches
and warnings to keep users aware of the current weather conditions.

Built to withstand the elements, the Rino 650t has a rugged exterior
that boasts an IPX7 water rating 2. It can get up to 14-hours
of battery life with the included rechargeable Li-ion pack, and up to 18
hours with the optional AA battery pack (sold separately). It is also
compatible with Garmin spine mounting accessories like the carabiner
clip
, handlebar
moun

clip
