Garmin partners annually with Scholarship America to provide one-time $5,000 awards to multiple high school seniors or college students who are dependents of Garmin associates located in the U.S. Since the launch of this scholarship program in 2019, Garmin has had the pleasure of awarding more than 190 scholarships.
Scholarship America is a scholarship nonprofit organization that helps students fulfill their college dreams. Since its founding in 1958, Scholarship America has distributed $5.1 billion to more than 3 million students, making it the nation’s largest private scholarship provider.
Individuals who set up their profile may be eligible to apply for other local or national scholarships.
Requirements:
- Qualifying dependent of a U.S.-based Garmin associate who has worked at Garmin for at least 2 years
- Minimum cumulative 3.00/4.00 GPA
- Plan to enroll in full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) undergraduate degree program — in any discipline — at an accredited community college, private or independent college, or state university
- Essay up to 2,500 characters

The 2025 applications will open Jan. 6, 2025.
Selection Process:
- Scholarship America will take into consideration the applicant’s academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, and their statement of career and educational goals and objectives.
- Essays submitted by eligible applicants will be evaluated based on the following four categories: Content, Originality, Creativity and Craftsmanship.
- Dependents of Garmin executives are not eligible for the NextGen Scholarships.
Only students who meet all the qualifying and academic requirements will be considered. Submissions must be completed by the application deadline. Multiple applicants will be chosen annually to receive one-time $5,000 scholarships. Prior award recipients may apply again if they still meet the eligibility requirements.
Scholarship America notifies applicants the last week of March.
